Okay, first of all, what are they doing over there across the pond? Why does so much EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD music come out of the UK? I truly don't understand it. Not to say that we don't have some stuff that is the whip here. But it seems like every time I turn around I stumbling across some great new artist who just happens to have the most banging accent in the world. I swear to you, I moving over there, finding me a hot musician boy and coming back home. But I digress.
Her name is Adele. Her voice immediately made me think of a less cracked out Amy Winehouse. I can not stop listening to Chasing Pavements. I'm having some trouble finding out much about her. But I can say that the songs I've heard this far I absolutely love. She's notes Ella Fitzgerald, Roberta Flack and Etta James as influences. I can see that...or I guess hear that. Especially on her song Best For Last. For some reason, the first time I heard it I thought, "I would love to hear this girl sing At Last." Her cd drops on 21 January and I'm thinking I'm going to have to go track it down. I can't wait to hear more from Adele. I have this feeling that she's going to be the Amy Winehouse/Joss Stone of 2008.
